Central Sterile Technician

Pay Range

The base pay range is $21.00-$31.50 hourly; base pay offered may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Monday – Friday, 08:30–17:00; occasional call.

Perform daily activities of cleaning, decontaminating, sterilizing, and processing instruments and equipment. Cross‑trained to clean endoscopy scopes and act as backup to the surgical aide.

• Plan daily work assignments and prioritize sterilization loads to maximize equipment use.
• Participate in daily report to learn workload and special needs.
• Communicate with surgical team to decide appropriate use of resources.
• Attend staff meetings regularly.
• Problem‑solve on a one-to-one basis when needed.
• Clean, decontaminate, and sterilize used reusable instruments and equipment.
• Process instruments and equipment using autoclave, hydrogen peroxide sterilizer, ultrasonic cleaner, and washer‑decontaminator.
• Prepare instrument trays according to card file.
• Maintain and update current instrument sets on card file.
• Demonstrate knowledge and skills per competency checklist.
• Participate as a member of the healthcare team to support patient surgical experience.
• Monitor sterilizing equipment at specified intervals for proper functioning.
• Maintain logbook with necessary information for each sterilized load.

• Experience in sterile processing in a hospital setting.
• Excellent communication skills with colleagues and customers.
• Ability to manage time, tasks, and resources appropriately.
• Basic computer skills.

• Certification in Central Sterile processing.
• Encourage Central Sterile processing certification within one year of hire.
