Clinical/Medical Technologist 1 or 2 | Veterinary Teaching Hospital
The Clinical/Medical Technologist position with the Veterinary Teaching Hospital within the College of Veterinary Medicine will perform complex clinical laboratory tests used in screening, diagnosing, and treating animal diseases. Assure that quality control requirements are met to validate test results, record data as part of a quality assurance program. Assist in the development and evaluation of new procedures. Prepare and verify the quality of reagents, standards, and control samples.
Calibrate, troubleshoot, and perform routine and emergency preventative maintenance to laboratory instruments and related equipment. Supervise, train and schedule temporary employees. Perform administrative functions including, but not limited to laboratory statistics, equipment purchases, service contracts and preparation of standard operating procedures. Ability to be available for occasional emergency situations on evenings and weekends.
This is a full time (100 % FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible. Monthly Salary:
Clinical/Medical Technologist 1: $4,320 to $5,812 | Range 48 (Steps A-M)
Clinical/Medical Technologist 2: $4,771 to $6,414 | Range 52 (Steps A-M)
Successful candidates typically begin at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications (all levels):
A Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology with a curriculum accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation of the American Medical Association AND certification with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or equivalent, or certification in the specialized field appropriate to the laboratory division OR Equivalent education/experience.
For the Clinical/Medical Technologist 2 level :
Two (2) years of experience as a Clinical/Medical Technologist 1 or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications (all levels):
- Experience working in a diagnostic laboratory setting.
- Experience working in a educational setting, including providing instructions to others.
- Experience tracking disposable inventory.
