Pay Range:
The base pay range for this position is $19.20-$29.75 Hourly however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Position Overview

Provides adult and pediatric phlebotomy service to the inpatients and outpatients served by Pullman Regional Hospital. Orders and processes laboratory test and work closely with others in the laboratory to ensure immediate, courteous and comprehensive responses to requests for service or concerns about specimens and related matters.

Responsibilities
  • Provide adult and pediatric phlebotomy services to inpatients and outpatients.
  • Order and process laboratory tests and work closely with laboratory staff to ensure timely service.
  • Participate in orientation and training of new members, and assist coworkers as needed.
  • Demonstrate flexibility with the workflow to ensure self and coworkers have time to complete additional tasks.
  • Plan and prioritize tasks within time expectations, monitor supplies, organize workload, and prioritize multiple activities.
  • Seek organizational information by participating in daily huddles, reading emails, and attending or watching monthly All Staff Meetings.
  • Educate healthcare providers and patients about laboratory orders and specimen collection, and actively engage in the testing area of the laboratory.
  • Provide updates and specimen status to relevant parties.
  • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills required for phlebotomy and specimen processing in accordance with the training checklist.
  • Promote the use of Comfort Care with pediatric patients.
  • Pass a color‑blind test or demonstrate alternative methods for recognizing color.
  • Work independently and problem‑solve using available resources.
  • Understand laboratory testing requirements and special needs of varying patient populations.
  • Ensure all appropriate information required for laboratory testing is accurate and available.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a phlebotomy program.
  • Active certification through the state of Washington, or ability to obtain certificate.
  • Demonstrates skill and knowledge consistent with clinical training and experience.
  • Complies with all department/organization policies.
  • Ability to manage time, tasks, and resources appropriately.
  • Effective communication.
  • Exemplifies customer service when communicating with patients, providers, and peers (within the lab and hospital wide).
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Demonstrates punctuality and dependability and contributes to a positive work environment.
