Human Resource Services (HRS) seeks a Benefits Manager to provide primary oversight and leadership for Benefits Administration at Washington State University. The role involves managing all aspects of employee benefits, serving as a specialist on complex benefit issues, and guiding a benefits staff team.
Responsibilities- Provide overall management and leadership in the area of Benefits Administration.
- Act as a specialist for complex benefit issues and problems.
- Oversee the administration of Public Employee Benefits Board (PEBB) / Washington State Healthcare Authority (HCA) benefits.
- Manage and direct benefits staff.
- Work closely with management to foster a collaborative workplace, promoting best practices and open communication.
- Salary Range: $6,684 - $11,250 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
- Full‑time (100% FTE), permanent position; overtime exempt.

- Four (4) years of progressively responsible human resource experience in benefit programs, including retirement plans, health insurance, medical spending accounts, life insurance or long‑term disability benefits.
- At least one (1) year of supervisory experience facilitating employee growth and accountability.
- Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying federal and state benefits regulations, rules, policies, and procedures.
- Experience with vendor management.
- Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, including conflict‑resolution skills.
- Ability to interact effectively with large groups and individuals at all work levels and to foster an inclusive environment.
- Proficiency in computers and software applications.
- Preferred: experience with enterprise HRIS platforms or benefits administration modules (e.g., Workday, People Soft, or Dayforce), professional certification from a recognized HR association, higher‑education HR experience, and knowledge of Washington State benefit programs.
