System Administrator - WordPress Platform

Responsibilities

As the Systems Administrator for University Marketing and Communications, you will support the design, management, and troubleshooting of scalable, secure, and cost‑effective solutions on AWS for WSU's Word Press platform (WSUWP). You will manage server configurations, maintain CI/CD pipelines, oversee backups, and resolve issues to ensure stability, security, and performance of WSUWP networks.

In this role, you will assure the integrity, availability, and performance of the Word Press servers and networks, working closely with developers and cross‑functional teams to integrate applications and services smoothly.

Position Term: 12‑month

Monthly Salary: $4,942.10 – $7,569.55 (commensurate with experience and qualifications). The range reflects the full salary range for this position.

• A Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of professional experience (education and experience may be substituted on a year‑for‑year basis).
• Experience with the AWS cloud platform.
• Experience on the Word Press platform.
• Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes and Amazon EKS.
• Exposure to cloud automation and deployment tools such as Terraform and Cloud Formation.
• Knowledge of Word Press network and server configuration, including nginx, databases (MySQL/Maria
  
  DB), and PHP configuration.
• Experience with modern development workflows and software including NPM, Git, preprocessors (Grunt/Gulp/Webpack), CI/CD pipelines, and local development environments.
• Proficiency with scripting languages like Shell, AWS CLI, and WP CLI.

• Experience with SSL, firewall configuration, malware scanning, and securing Word Press environments.
• Familiarity with AWS security best practices, including IAM, encryption, and data protection.
• Experience with AI/ML‑powered tools in web platforms (e.g., automated testing, performance monitoring, or content optimization).
• Experience evaluating or integrating AI solutions within cloud‑based environments (AWS AI/ML services a plus).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience communicating technical information to nontechnical audiences.
• Experience creating project briefs, scopes of work, and setting timelines.
• Experience working as part of a Word Press development team.
• Proven ability to write and review development documentation.
