** Honey Bee Lab Manager
** for the
** Washington State University (
**** WSU) Honey Bee Program,
** you will manage lab operations and work closely with the apiary manager, faculty, students, and hourly workers to ensure smooth operations and experimental success. This includes managing hourly student scheduling and delegating tasks and labor accordingly with the apiary this role, your responsibilities will also include managing inventory for experimental needs by purchasing supplies and equipment, shipping materials, and reliably tracking purchase records, assisting in data collection, sample processing, lab and field experiments, data management, and space use.
You will need be organized, and have knowledge and experience maintaining rigor in scientific experimental protocols, and communicating clearly and effectively to support a high-quality research program.

* Required Qualifications:
*** A Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate related scientific discipline and four (4) years of progressively responsible professional experience which has included at least two (2) years of supervisory experience.
* Thorough understanding of the scientific method, and experience writing and following scientific procedures and protocols.
* Experience performing molecular techniques in lab settings.
* Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, and to effectively interact with people in a positive manner.
* Ability to organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
* Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver’s license and meet requirements in accordance with and departmental driving standards.
* Basic computer skills required, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), internet searching, email communications, and Zoom virtual meetings.

* Preferred Qualifications:
*** Prior experience working with insects and/or microbes.
* Master’s degree in a biological or adjacent field.
* Experience overseeing research throughout all stages, from experimental design through publication of findings.
* Published peer-reviewed articles, scientific reports, and scientific communication.
* Experience managing a research lab.
