Job SummaryVMRD is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual(s) for our Lab Assistant Internship program. The individual(s) will support various functions/teams across the organization. Your day to day will depend on the project/team you will be assigned to throughout your internship. The position will offer an opportunity of insight into working in the lab or operations while building a foundation for a future career in science or research.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Assist with basic laboratory tasks including cleaning, organizing, and setting up equipment.
- Prepare solutions, samples, and materials under supervision.
- Help with inventory management of lab supplies and equipment.
- Follow safety protocols and ensure a clean, safe working environment.
- Support team members in day-to-day research and operational activities.
- Participate on projects throughout the organization.
- Participate in team meetings and occasional training workshops.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions carefully.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Completes work with accuracy and thoroughness.
- Exhibits constancy and reliability.
- Motivated and self-directed.
- Positive attitude, curiosity, and willingness to learn.
- Treats others with mutual respect and regard. Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
- Previous work in a lab environment.
- Basic understanding of lab safety and common lab practices (training provided).
- Interest in science, research, healthcare, or related fields.
- Experience with MS Office Excel, Word.
- High school junior/senior or currently enrolled in a college program related to science, healthcare, or technology.
- Must be able to move 50 lbs.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Flexible part-time hours: 10–40 hours per week, May-August.
Pay: $18.00 per hour
