Job Summary

VMRD is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual(s) for our Lab Assistant Internship program. The individual(s) will support various functions/teams across the organization. Your day to day will depend on the project/team you will be assigned to throughout your internship. The position will offer an opportunity of insight into working in the lab or operations while building a foundation for a future career in science or research.

Duties

and Responsibilities
  • Assist with basic laboratory tasks including cleaning, organizing, and setting up equipment.
  • Prepare solutions, samples, and materials under supervision.
  • Help with inventory management of lab supplies and equipment.
  • Follow safety protocols and ensure a clean, safe working environment.
  • Support team members in day-to-day research and operational activities.
  • Participate on projects throughout the organization.
  • Participate in team meetings and occasional training workshops.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge,

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions carefully.

Desired Qualifications and Experience
  • Previous work in a lab environment.
  • Basic understanding of lab safety and common lab practices (training provided).
  • Interest in science, research, healthcare, or related fields.
  • Experience with MS Office Excel, Word.
Education, Licenses and Certifications
  • High school junior/senior or currently enrolled in a college program related to science, healthcare, or technology.
Physical Requirements for the Job
  • Must be able to move 50 lbs.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Work Schedule
  • Flexible part-time hours: 10–40 hours per week, May-August.
Pay

Pay: $18.00 per hour
