Job Description

Definition of Position: The Speech Language Pathologist provides diagnostic, therapeutic, consultative, and supervisory services for students with special needs in the area of communication.

Supervisor: Assistant Superintendent or Assistant Director of Special Services

Required

Skills and Qualifications
  • Possess a Washington State Educational Staff Associate Certificate with a School Speech Language Pathologist endorsement
  • Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology
  • Current, valid driver’s license and own transportation
Preferred Qualities and Qualifications
  • Completion and maintenance of Certificate of Clinical Competence Speech Language Pathology (CCC in SLP)
Essential Job-related Activities
  • Serve as a team leader for students with Communication Disorders as the primary focus of concern/disability
  • Screen and identify students with suspected communication disorders
  • Complete diagnostic assessments and provide diagnosis of communication disorders
  • Design and implement effective instructional programs (articulation, expressive and receptive language, fluency, voice, etc.) for students within a public school setting including preschool
  • Be knowledgeable of, understand, and comply with regulations for special needs students
  • Write Individualized Education Programs (IEP), including measurable annual goals and objectives
  • Participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team, collaborating and consulting with team, family members, and agencies
  • Maintain record keeping for monitoring student progress and reporting
  • Proficient in the use of IEP Online web-based program
  • Participate in professional development activities
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a wide variety of people (staff, parents, community members, agencies)
  • Positive team builder, collaborative manner
  • Meet multiple demands in pressure situations, maintain high quality work
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Communicate clearly, orally and in writing
  • Work flexible schedule with minimal supervision and travel between buildings
Terms of Contract
  • Salary: $56,701 - $106,871 per year, placement based on experience and level of education
  • Length of contract: 1.0 FTE, 180 days base plus professional development days
  • Leaves/Benefits:
    Medical, dental, vision, life and long-term disability coverage through SEBB for employees working at least 630 hours per academic year. Retirement benefits through Washington State DRS. Additional benefits may include sick/emergency leave and personal leave as per the collective bargaining agreement.
