Qualifications:(Inclusive of federal guidelines as they pertain to Head Start positions)
- Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education, or in a related field with required coursework, as stated in Head Start Performance Standards or 2 years Head Start classroom experience and willingness to obtain degree within 2 years – Governing body & Director approval required
- Two years’ experience working with preschool children
- Ability to pass health screening, including tuberculosis test, per Head Start Performance Standards
Preferred Qualifications:
- Valid Florida driver’s license and insurance
* Suchalternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate.
Performance Responsibilites:
- Develops and implements appropriate instructional plans and individualized learning experiences for 3-5-year-olds as prescribed by program curricula.
- Establishes and maintains learning environments that meet all applicable state and federal health and safety standards.
- Gathers, evaluates and utilizes ongoing child development assessment data.
- Engages families in program activities by maintaining ongoing and open communication, including participation in conferences and home visits.
- Meets all state and federal record-keeping and recording requirements.
- Implements prescribed, individualized support, behavior and/or learning plans.
- Practices positive child behavior and management techniques in the classroom.
- Participates in requisite professional development activities.
- Supports and supervises classroom volunteers and interns.
- Maintains relevant, ongoing and open communication with coworkers and supervisory staff.
- Works closely with partnering community agencies to provide quality, seamless services.
- Performs assigned duties related to student on campus.
- Performs other duties related to the job goal as directed.
