SalaryPlant Operator C: $21.99 – $29.13
Plant Operator B: $23.31 – $30.88
Plant Operator A: $24.70 – $32.73
- Operate, monitor, and maintain plant machinery and systems to ensure safe and compliant treatment of wastewater.
- Inspect, adjust, clean, and perform minor repairs on equipment; assist mechanics with major repairs and installations.
- Conduct routine laboratory analyses and bacteriological tests to monitor treatment effectiveness.
- Interpret charts, meters, gauges, and control panels to regulate flow and feed rates and make operational adjustments.
- Operate pumps, remove solids and debris, and maintain equipment and related infrastructure.
- Complete required reports and daily logs; perform general grounds maintenance.
- Provide guidance and training to trainees and other assigned staff when required.
- Respond to customer inquiries or concerns and deliver exceptional customer service.
Plant Operator C
- High school diploma or GED issued by the American Council on Education through an approved GED Administrator.
- One (1) year of experience operating a wastewater or water treatment plant.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Valid Florida Wastewater Operator "C" License for Domestic Wastewater or Water Treatment.
Plant Operator B
- High school diploma or GED issued by the American Council on Education through an approved GED Administrator.
- Three (3) years of experience operating a wastewater or water treatment plant.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Valid Florida Wastewater Operator "B" License for Domestic Wastewater Treatment or Florida Water Class "B" Operator License for Drinking Water Treatment.
Plant Operator A
- High school diploma or GED issued by the American Council on Education through an approved GED Administrator.
- Five (5) years of experience operating a water or wastewater treatment plant, including lead or supervisory experience.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Valid Florida Wastewater Operator "A" License for Domestic Wastewater Treatment or Florida Water Class "A" Operator License for Drinking Water Treatment.
- Stooping, walking, pulling, grasping, hearing, seeing up close and far, talking, standing, finger movement, climbing.
- Frequent lifting up to 25 pounds; occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Exposure to moderate noise, heat, odors, dust, and potentially irate customers.
- Moderate exposure or risk to physical health and safety, including hazardous materials and heavy equipment.
- May be required to work before, during, or after an emergency as needed.
