Driver Route Non-CDL Med (WMHS), RWCS Punta Gorda, FL Job Summary
The Medical Waste Route Driver is responsible for servicing assigned accounts in a professional manner, ensuring that customers' needs are met for various waste pickup and supply delivery. This role will always provide the highest level of customer service possible. They may also transport waste from a WMHS location or customer location to a transfer or processing location. All company‑assigned vehicles are equipped with camera telematics, an electronic logging device (ELD), and GPS.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Manages assigned routes ensuring customers’ waste is picked up safely, timely and accurately.
- Pickup and transport waste safely according to federal, provincial and local rules and regulations.
- Plans daily schedule based on customers’ needs by reviewing daily paperwork (e.g., manifest, route sheets, VCR). Converts information provided by the Transportation Manager/Supervisor or Dispatcher.
- Follows routing software schedule.
- Prepares, loads trucks and ensures supplies are added; unloads trucks at various sites, securing waste.
- Collects waste from each scheduled customer site; ensures customers have prepared waste per applicable rules.
- Provides highest level of customer service; reports issues to the Transportation Manager/Supervisor or Dispatcher, including re‑routes, container size adjustments, training needs.
- Secures waste, supplies and equipment prior to operating vehicle on public highway.
- Completes required paperwork legibly, neatly, accurately, and returns it to the Transportation Supervisor or Dispatcher; completes DOT Driver Log if applicable.
- Communicates with the Transportation Supervisor/Dispatcher regarding route changes and when customers cannot provide waste; reports any problems before the end of business each day.
- Performs pre‑trip and post‑trip maintenance on the truck and reports maintenance issues to the dispatcher; logs hours using ELD and Geotab per DOT guidelines.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
A. Required Qualifications
- 0–1 year of experience, preferably driving box trucks and managing routes.
- Commercial Driver’s License, Class B or above, with an excellent driving record.
