Financial Aid Officer
Full‑time, on‑site position in Purcellville, VA. The role focuses on advising, recruiting, and developing relationships with current and prospective Patrick Henry College students and families, within a Christ‑centered environment.
Chief Duties and Responsibilities- Implement and execute the Financial Aid Annual Plan via policy, financial aid databases, and coordination with Finance and Registrar departments.
- Advise current and prospective students and parents regarding scholarship or loan issues, award scholarships, certify external loan packages, and conduct College Financial Planning meetings with families.
- Manage the Pursuit of Excellence scholarship student program, including volunteer activities twice per semester.
- Track the Endowed Scholarship Program, ensuring all available funds are allocated for the current year by the Scholarship Review Committee.
- Maintain and print annual Family Financial Profiles for the Scholarship Review Committee and contact families about any profile discrepancies.
- Maintain physical files and digital records of student scholarship and financial information, safeguarding confidentiality while providing requested reports.
- Supervise, manage, and improve the Student Ambassador Call Center.
- Manage and oversee on‑site Forensics tournaments (Stoa & NCFCA), meeting with stakeholders and executing the events.
- Mentor Financial Aid Probation students whose GPA falls below 2.6.
- Assist in interviewing applicants, leading campus visits/tours, and travel by car or airplane to recruitment events.
- Cross‑train with the Data Analyst and assist with data‑analysis projects as needed.
- Carry out other duties assigned by the Director of Student Recruitment.
- Must hold a four‑year college degree or commensurate experience.
- Demonstrated commitment to high‑touch client engagement, recruitment excellence, professionalism, confidentiality, and high‑velocity output within the Admissions Department.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and negotiation skills with a customer‑service orientation and results‑driven mindset.
- Capability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and external constituents.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong organizational, administrative, and project‑management skills with the ability to balance routine tasks and long‑term projects while meeting deadlines.
- Attention to detail and ability to organize systems and spreadsheets.
- Primarily office work environment with student interaction.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Quick decision‑making in available information.
- Calm under stress with good judgment.
- Collaborative work style with self‑discipline.
