Job Description

The graduate assistant for Athletic Communications serves at the direction of the Director of Athletic Communications and the department's Associate Vice President of Athletics and Recreation and Associate Athletic Director. The assistant will be responsible for athletically produced content across all media platforms as well as sport specific statistical data. The qualified applicant will help with all aspects of game day operations and communications/marketing efforts, including stats keeping, written and digital content, social media, website management, game day operations, video productions and promotional efforts for all 23 of Manhattanville University's varsity athletic programs.

Specific

Responsibilities
  • Game Day Operations: Assist the Director of Athletic Communications in game operations, serve as official statistician for NCAA contests, video streaming, broadcasting, social media, scoreboard operations and supervise student‑worker staff. Possible primary contact for assigned sports.
  • Writing & Editing: Write, edit and distribute press releases, game recaps, student-athlete features, department news and related content for  and athletic social media. AP writing style required.
  • Graphic Design & Video Production: Create and distribute graphics and video content via Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Premiere). Proficiency required.
  • Social Media Management: Assist in oversight of teams’ social media channels on Instagram, Twitter/X, Facebook, Threads and You Tube.
  • Website Management: Maintain  with news releases, roster info, schedules and stats.
  • Department Contributor: Work in a diverse environment and establish relationships with administrators, parents, students and alums. Aid in planning and promotion of major athletic and university events.
  • Ensure compliance with university, conference, and NCAA rules.
  • Assist with game operation and game management as needed.
  • Adopt additional responsibilities as assigned by leadership.
Required Skills & Abilities
  • Experience in collegiate sports information or related field.
  • Experience with collegiate athletic website services (SIDEARM, Presto, etc.).
  • Experience with statistical programs (Stat Crew, Presto Stats, GENIUS NCAA Live Stats, etc.).
  • Experience with digital photography and video editing software.
  • Experience with social media platforms.
  • Strong verbal and written communication; knowledge of AP Style.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Commitment to Manhattanville University mission.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Collegiate or professional playing experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Admission to Manhattanville College’s graduate program.
Education

Bachelor's Degree required.

Physical Requirements
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds frequently.
  • Organizing, transporting, setting up game day items.
Salary and Benefits
  • $5,000 stipend paid over 10 months.
  • Tuition remission (9 credits per semester).
  • Maintain 3.0 GPA each semester for up to four semesters; summer classes subject to approval.
  • On‑campus housing (dorm style only).
  • Limited meal plan.
Hours Expectation
  • Part‑time, average 20 hours per week.
  • Flexible schedule, including evenings, overnight, weekends.
  • Travel to competitions as assigned.
