Overview

The Director, Finance -- Blockchain & Digital Currencies at Mastercard will serve as the lead finance advisor to Digital Assets & Blockchain product and engineering leaders, helping shape business strategy, drive disciplined growth, and ensure robust financial management. This role will provide strategic financial leadership across planning, forecasting, performance management, investment prioritization, and executive decision support, ensuring financial outcomes are aligned with organizational goals.

The ideal candidate is a strategic finance leader with strong business judgment, executive presence, and the ability to translate complex financial and operational data into clear recommendations. Collaboration, financial acumen, ownership, stakeholder management, and the ability to influence senior leaders are critical to success. This role will partner closely with product, engineering, regional, and corporate finance teams to assess the financial implications of business decisions and enable data-driven execution against Mastercard’s broader strategy.

Role
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes for Blockchain & Digital Currencies, ensuring plans are grounded in business drivers, strategic priorities, and financial targets
  • Oversee month-end financial close activities, analyze results versus forecast and plan, and communicate key variances, risks, and opportunities to senior stakeholders
  • Proactively manage financial risks and opportunities across revenues, expenses, investments, and macroeconomic drivers, providing actionable recommendations to leadership
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to business partners and senior management, building strong relationships to influence decisions and effectively manage business unit financial performance
  • Coordinate quarterly forecasts, divisional budgets and long term planning, partnering with stakeholders to identify trade-offs, align resources, and deliver against financial commitments
  • Lead detailed personnel, vendor, and investment forecasting, including analysis of run-rate trends, hiring plans, and productivity opportunities
  • Partner with sourcing, product, engineering, and business owners to evaluate vendor negotiations, business cases, and investment proposals
  • Own monthly and quarterly internal and corporate reporting deliverables, including operating reviews, executive updates, and performance narratives
  • Identify and lead process improvement opportunities that strengthen financial discipline, improve decision support, and enhance operating efficiency
  • Lead special projects and ad hoc analyses, including strategic initiatives, business case development, scenario modeling, and executive-level decision support
About you
  • Proven ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Strong proficiency in financial planning and analysis, corporate finance and accounting
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; highly proficient in Excel and Power Point
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong project management skills including superior organization, planning, and follow through.
  • Able to foster a positive team environment and collaborate to produce outstanding results
  • Able to work independently, prioritize effectively and drive process improvement initiatives
  • Good knowledge of Business Intelligence tools and experience with financial systems/applications (e.g., Hyperion and Oracle) preferred
  • Advanced degree or MBA preferred.
