We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our small manufacturing team. This full-time, on-site role is a critical part of our daily operations and includes managing Accounts Payment (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), general ledger support, reconciliations, monthly closings and tax filings. The ideal candidate has strong organizational skills, proficiency in accounting software and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and general ledger entries
  • Perform monthly closings and assist in year-end financial preparation
  • Ensure financial accuracy and compliance with internal controls and policies
  • Support audit preparation and other accounting functions as needed
  • Comply with all federal, state and local requirements
  • Track, prepare and file CT Sales & Use Tax, Property Tax, and other filings
  • Process AP: match purchase orders to packings slips/invoices, issue vendor payments and maintain records
  • Process AR: apply customer payments, manage deposits, follow-up on overdue accounts
  • Generate and distribute commission reports and payments, including internationally
  • Assist with other administrative or cross-functional duties as needed
Qualifications
  • Solid understanding of general ledger and accounting principles
  • Proficient in accounting software (Sage 100 preferred)
  • Highly organized, detail oriented and the ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
  • Proactive in identifying and implementing process improvements
  • Flexible and willing to assist co-workers as needed in a small business environment
