POSITION:
English Learner/Multilingual Learner (EL/ML) Para educator
Part-Time: 27.5 hours per week
Putnam Public Schools is seeking an innovative and motivated English Learner (EL) / Multilingual Learner (ML) Para educator. The ideal candidate will creatively and collaboratively inspire a love of learning, deliver high-quality instructional support, and reinforce a caring, supportive environment to help each multilingual student reach their full linguistic and academic potential.

MAJOR
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Provide direct linguistic, academic, and cultural support to English Learners/Multilingual Learners (EL/ML) in individual, small group, and/or classroom settings.
* Assist the certified EL/ML teacher and classroom teachers in implementing language instruction educational programs (LIEP) and adapting lessons to meet the diverse needs of EL/ML students.
* Facilitate student understanding of academic content and instructions by reinforcing vocabulary, clarifying concepts, and using translation or simplification techniques as needed.
* Support students in developing listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in English across various content areas.
* Collaborate closely with EL/ML teachers, classroom teachers, and other school staff to foster a consistent, encouraging, and culturally responsive learning environment.
* Help manage classroom dynamics and implement positive behavior strategies to promote student engagement and participation.
* Assist with data collection and progress monitoring as directed by the certified teacher.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
* High School Diploma or GED equivalent
* Successful completion of the Para Pro Assessment OR at least 60 college credits from an accredited institution.
* Experience working in a school system is preferred and/or with diverse student populations is preferred.
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, showing patience, empathy, and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
* Ability to follow directions from certified staff, maintain a high degree of professionalism, and ensure confidentiality at all times.
START DATE:
Immediate Opening
RATE OF PAY: $19.67 - $21.74 per hour
