This position is responsible for teaching dramatic/theatrical arts. The Drama Teacher will be responsible providing engaging and innovative lessons that inspire students to develop creativity, confidence, and expressive skills. The Drama Teacher will produce student-led theater productions and other related showcases. The Drama Teacher will organize, design and refine theatrical instruction to encourage students to continue to grow, strengthen, and enhance their talents and performance skills.
Required- Holds a minimum of a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher learning
Bachelor's degree in Drama, Theatre Arts, or a related field
Master's degree in education or Theatre preferred.
Experience in directing theatre productions.
Strong background in various acting techniques
Experience teaching drama at different educational levels.
Duties & Responsibilities- Develops and administers dramaeducation curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
- Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
- Develops lessons to organize class time so that students have adequate time for preparation, rehearsal, and instruction.
- Design and implement appropriate assignments and assessments.
- Communicate effectively and in a timely manner with students, parents, and faculty.
- Collaborate with departmental colleagues and engage in school conversations about best practices in subject-area instruction.
- Contribute to the co-curricular life of the school outside the classroom.
- Collaborate with faculty, administration, and staff on experiential, interdisciplinary, and community-based opportunities.
- Support district and school-wide initiatives.
- Demonstrates an understanding of the curriculum, subject content, pedagogical knowledge, and the needs of students by providing relevant learning experiences.
- Plans lessons using state and local school district curricula and standards, effective strategies, and data to address the differentiated needs of all students.
- Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
- Develops lessons to organize class time so that students have adequate time for preparation, rehearsal, and instruction.
- Provides a well-managed, safe, and orderly environment that is conducive to learning and encourages respect for all.
- Creates a student-centered, academic environment in which teaching and learning occur at high levels and students are self-directed learners.
- Exhibits a commitment to professional ethics and the school's mission, participates in professional growth opportunities to support student learning, and contributes to the profession.
- Communicates effectively with students, parents or guardians, district and school personnel, and other stakeholders in ways that enhance student learning.
- Work with the district Drama teachers to align instructional goals, performance standards and overall program expectations.
- Performs other duties as assigned by administrators.
Ability to lift and/or exert up to 50 pounds of force; extend hands and arms in any direction; push and pull objects; bend and stoop; execute substantial movements/motions of the wrists, hands and/or fingers; use of all senses; tolerate a work environment which includes extreme temperatures and prolonged periods of moving. Vision, hearing and verbal communications are essential functions of this position.
