Literacy Paraeducator

Putnam Middle School is seeking a caring, flexible, and dependable individual to join our team as a Literacy Para educator
. This part‑time position supports students in grades 5–8 by providing small group and individual assistance in reading and writing, reinforcing classroom instruction, and encouraging strong literacy habits. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for helping adolescents grow as readers and writers, work collaboratively with teachers and specialists, and foster a supportive environment where students feel confident and motivated to build their literacy skills.

• Assist students in grades 5–8 with reading and writing skills in small‑group and individual settings.
• Support classroom instruction and reinforce literacy curricula.
• Promote positive literacy habits and motivate students to develop confidence.
• Collaborate with teachers and specialists to create a supportive learning environment.
• Work part‑time (20 hours per week).

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent (Required).
• Para Pro Test or equivalent of 2 years' college credits – 60 credits (Required).
• Preferable experience working in a school system.
• Preferable experience supporting students in literacy intervention programs.

Hourly rate: $20.36 - $22.50 per hour (based on contractual requirements).
