POSITION:
Special Education Para educator

Part-Time: 20 hours per week

Putnam Middle School is looking for a caring, flexible, and dependable Special Education Para educator to join our team, specifically supporting students within a specialized program. This part-time role is crucial in empowering middle school students with diverse and often intensive learning needs, helping them navigate their academic, social, and emotional growth during these important transitional years in a structured and supportive environment.

Our district facilitates robust district-wide alignment and support across all three schools, ensuring each student's educational experience comprehensively prepares them for high school and the real world.

MAJOR

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Student Support:
Support middle school students with diverse learning needs, providing vital academic, behavioral, and social-emotional assistance.

* Collaboration:

Work collaboratively with teachers and specialists to implement individual instructional and behavioral plans.

* Community Building:
Help create a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment where all students feel welcome.

* Targeted Instruction:
Provide individual and small-group support to students as directed by certified staff.

* Flexibility:
Adapt to evolving student needs and assist with daily classroom activities and transitions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

* High School Diploma or GED equivalent

* Successful completion of the Para Pro Assessment OR at least 60 college credits from an accredited institution.

* Experience working in a school system is preferred.

* Demonstrated ability to work effectively with young adolescents, showing patience, empathy, and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.

* Ability to follow directions from certified staff, maintain a high degree of professionalism, and ensure student confidentiality at all times.

START DATE:

RATE OF PAY: $20.36 - $22.50 per hour
* based on contractual requirements
