Special Education Para educator

Putnam Elementary School is looking for a caring, flexible, and dependable special education para educator to join our team, specifically supporting students within a specialized program. This full-time role is crucial in empowering elementary students with diverse and often intensive learning needs, helping them navigate their academic, social, and emotional growth in a structured and supportive environment.

Putnam Elementary School fosters a strong, collaborative culture of caring educators who leverage resources to nurture and challenge our students. Our district facilitates robust district-wide alignment and support across all three schools, ensuring each student's educational experience comprehensively prepares them for the real world.

Major duties and responsibilities include:

  • Support elementary students with diverse learning needs, providing academic, behavioral, and social-emotional assistance.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and specialists to implement instructional and behavioral plans.
  • Help create a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
  • Provide individual and small group support to students as directed by certified staff.
  • Adapt to evolving student needs and assist with classroom activities.

Minimum qualifications include:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Successful completion of the Para Pro assessment OR at least 60 college credits from an accredited institution.
  • Experience working in a school system is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, showing patience, empathy, and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Ability to follow directions from certified staff, maintain a high degree of professionalism, and ensure confidentiality at all times.

Start date:

August 24, 2026. Rate of pay: $20.36 - $22.50 per hour based on contractual requirements.
