FRC Child Care Assistant
The Putnam Family Resource Center (FRC) is seeking an enthusiastic, dependable, and compassionate Full-Time Child Care Assistant to join our dedicated team. This is a 12-month position (50 weeks per year, 40 hours per week) providing hands‑on care, educational support, and a safe, nurturing environment for preschool children.
Putnam Public Schools offers a strong, collaborative culture of caring educators who leverage resources to nurture and challenge our students. The FRC provides a dynamic public‑school environment that offers hands‑on experience in early childhood education and student support.
- Instructional & Educational Support:
Assist in preparing and delivering engaging, age‑appropriate learning activities and routines for young children. - Classroom Management:
Support the Head Teacher in maintaining a safe, organized, and inclusive classroom environment. - Social-Emotional Growth:
Guide and encourage children's individual social and emotional development through positive reinforcement and active engagement. - Individual Support:
Provide tailored, one‑on‑one assistance to children needing extra learning or behavioral support. - Collaboration & Communication:
Work effectively as part of a team alongside staff, administrators, and families to foster a supportive learning environment
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Successful completion of the Para Pro Assessment OR at least 60 college credits from an accredited institution.
- Child Development Associate (CDA) is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with young children, showing patience, empathy, and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Ability to follow directions from certified staff, maintain a high degree of professionalism, and ensure confidentiality at all times.

RATE OF PAY: $19.69 - $21.72 per hour (based on educational requirements)
