Grade 5 ELA/Social Studies Teacher
Putnam Middle School is seeking an innovative and motivated Grade 5 ELA/Social Studies Teacher. The ideal candidate will creatively and collaboratively inspire a love of reading, writing, and history, delivering high-quality humanities instruction that supports student achievement and critical thinking. We are looking for an educator who can build a caring, supportive classroom environment that helps each student reach their potential while exploring the complexities of our world through literature and social studies.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Instructional Design:
Design and implement engaging ELA and Social Studies lessons in line with grade-level curriculum and state standards. - Classroom Culture:
Foster a classroom environment built on mutual respect, intellectual curiosity, and inclusivity. - Collaboration:
Work closely with the 5th-grade team to support interdisciplinary learning and holistic student well-being. - Data-Driven Practice:
Utilize assessment data to differentiate instruction and meet the diverse needs of all learners. - Communication:
Maintain open and professional communication with students, families, and administration.
- Certification:
Valid CT Teaching License/Certificate with appropriate endorsement (001, 002, 003, 004, 005, 006, 013, or 305), or eligibility for certification. - Experience:
Previous middle school classroom teaching experience preferred. - Knowledge:
Strong understanding of 5th-grade developmental milestones and pedagogical best practices. - Skills:
Excellent classroom management, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills. - Background Check:
Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and meet all district employment requirements
