POSITION: Lunch Aide for Food Services – 3.5 hours per day, 10 months per year,  school year.

Putnam Public Schools is seeking an enthusiastic Lunch Aide to join our food services team. The role involves supervising students during lunch periods, ensuring a safe, positive and structured environment, supporting student wellness, social growth, and cleanliness.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Lunchroom supervision & student support: supervising students in the cafeteria during lunch periods to ensure a safe, orderly, and respectful environment.
  • Assisting students in developing positive social skills and peer interactions during meal times.
  • Encouraging healthy habits, hygiene, and overall wellness (handwashing, healthy eating, proper disposal of waste).
  • Cafeteria cleanliness & maintenance: assisting in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and sanitation, wiping down tables, cleaning spills, ensuring the cafeteria remains safe and hygienic between lunch waves.
  • General food service support: collaborating with food service staff and school administration to ensure a smooth, efficient lunch period, and performing other tasks as directed by the Director of Food Services.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written directions accurately.
  • Must be able to work cooperatively as part of a team and maintain positive working relationships with staff, students, and the public.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient and positive attitude toward children.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including standing and walking for extended periods and occasional light lifting.
  • Prior experience working with school-aged children or in a school environment desirable.

RATE OF PAY: $19.23 per hour

START DATE: August 24, 2026
