Under the direction of the Director of Finance, the Reimbursement Manager is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and reporting healthcare financial and operational data to ensure accurate reimbursement, regulatory compliance, and informed financial decision-making.
This role manages key reimbursement functions including Medicare and Medicaid cost reporting, third-party reimbursement analysis, revenue optimization initiatives, financial reporting support, and audit preparation.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain accurate and timely reimbursement information related to third-party payers, including Medicare and Medicaid.
- Prepare financial and statistical reports, including Medicare DRG payment analyses and reimbursement evaluations.
- Develop and maintain databases supporting allocation statistics, physician information, and Medicare cost reporting requirements.
- Assist with all aspects of Medicare Cost Report preparation, including expense analysis, statistical data collection, and regulatory documentation.
- Support month-end financial close activities, including net revenue reporting and analysis.
- Assist with year-end financial audits and provide requested documentation and analysis.
- Support hospital operating budget development with a focus on gross and net revenue projections, patient volumes, charge structures, coding accuracy, and financial system interfaces.
- Conduct financial analyses and special studies supporting Medicare Cost Reports, regulatory filings, surveys, and operational initiatives.
- Respond to inquiries from internal departments, government agencies, and third-party auditors.
- Utilize specialized healthcare finance software, reimbursement systems, contract management tools, general ledger systems, and patient accounting platforms.
- Identify opportunities to improve data accuracy, reporting efficiency, and reimbursement performance.
- Maintain flexibility to support department and organizational priorities.
- Demonstrate knowledge of and compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain and enhance professional competencies through ongoing education and incorporation of industry best practices.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required.
- Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) preferred.
- Healthcare reimbursement experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement processes preferred.
- Knowledge of healthcare financial reporting and cost reporting requirements.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to interpret complex financial data and communicate findings effectively.
- Proficiency with computer applications, including spreadsheet software and financial reporting tools.
- Experience with healthcare financial systems, patient accounting systems, and general ledger applications preferred.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with finance leadership, operational teams, auditors, and external partners.
- Demonstrated ability to support organizational change and process improvement initiatives.
