Responsibilities
  • Responsible for ensuring the highest standards of clinical care are provided to all patients through the effective coordination of the Neonatal Department of Advanced Practice Providers/Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (APP/NNP).
  • Ensures and facilitates open communication with all staff, to promote improved performance.
  • Serves as a liaison among the MCH staff, physicians, managers, nurses, patients, and their families to ensure effective communication, care coordination, and collaborative decision‑making.
  • Contributes to the growth and development of the program, serving as administrator, clinical specialist, and direct patient care provider.
  • Assist with recruiting, interviewing, coordinating the hiring and training of NNPs in collaboration with the department chair, administration and operational leadership.
  • Develops and coordinates the schedule for all APPs to ensure adequate clinical coverage within the department. Serve as a liaison between DKH operations and service line NNPs. Manage APP time off requests.
  • Acts as a primary resource for clinic staff by providing guidance and support in the performance of daily activities regarding patient care.
  • May assist in coordinating and tracking professional development for NNPs as assigned by departmental/service line leadership (Work Compass/NRP/Attendance at conferences/lectures).
  • Facilitating leadership to ensure timely completion of employee performance reviews in close collaboration with departmental/divisional leadership.
  • In collaboration with the Compliance Office and Coding Department, establishes and maintains departmental procedures that ensure appropriate and optimal billing education.
  • Attends departmental or divisional meetings. Serves as liaison between the Department Chair and NNP staff.
Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Required

Skills and Qualifications Education
  • Master’s degree in Nursing with Advanced Practice Neonatal focus.
  • Current CT RN/APRN licensure.
  • Certification as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner with both State and Federal Controlled Substance authorization.
  • BLS and NRP certification.
  • ACLS certification optional.
Experience
  • Minimum five (5) years of clinical experience as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner in a level 3 or 4 Newborn Intensive Care Unit.
  • Experience with and ability to provide direct patient management.

Department‑specific competencies, including age‑specific competencies, and their measurements will be developed and maintained in the individual departments. The competencies will be maintained and attached to the departmental job description. Responsible managers will review competencies with position incumbents.
