Job Overview

As the Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN), you will be responsible for diagnosing responses to actual or potential health problems and providing basic emergent, supportive, and restorative care through the nursing process. You will demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in assigned responsibility.

Responsibilities
  • Clinically competent RN who demonstrates expertise in one or more of the following areas: SDA, ODS, IV Therapy, or Endoscopy.
  • Clinically competent RN with expertise in the perioperative field.
  • Performs circulating and/or scrub duties.
  • Demonstrates understanding and practice of aseptic technique.
  • Manages mechanical operation of multiple machines and special equipment in the department, such as electrocautery units, autoclaves, tourniquets, positioning equipment, instrumentation, video equipment, and perioperative suite equipment.
  • Meets the physical demands of the position.
  • Exhibits ability to cope with and function under stress.
  • Meets skill certification requirements for designated units.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
  • Licensed and registered as a Professional Nurse in the state of CT required.
  • BSN preferred.
  • Current AHA Healthcare Provider CPR certification or equivalent within 3 months of hire required.
