Position: Nurse Practitioner (APRN), 40 hours, Behavioral Health, Putnam, CT

Day Kimball Health is hiring a Nurse Practitioner (APRN) to join our Outpatient Mental Health Clinic in Putnam, CT!

Full‑time, exempt position offering 40 hours per week on a day shift schedule (8:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.). Join a collaborative behavioral health team dedicated to providing high‑quality, compassionate outpatient mental health services to the residents of Connecticut's Quiet Corner.

As a Nurse Practitioner (APRN), you will provide comprehensive, patient‑centered care within a collaborative, multidisciplinary healthcare team. Working alongside physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, behavioral health professionals, and other healthcare staff, you will deliver high‑quality, evidence‑based care that promotes the physical and emotional well‑being of our patients.

In this role, you will demonstrate clinical leadership through direct patient care, collaboration and consultation with the healthcare team, patient and family education, quality improvement initiatives, and ongoing professional development.

  • Assess, manage, prescribe, and evaluate appropriate therapeutic and pharmacological interventions for common illnesses according to standards of practice. Consult or make referrals to primary care physicians, other health care professionals or agencies when a situation is beyond your level of expertise or when additional services are needed to coordinate care.
Nurse Practitioner (APRN)

Education and Experience Requirements
  • License issued after 1999 and a Master’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
  • American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Certification as a Psychiatric‑Mental Health‑NP.
  • Nationally recognized certification to practice.
  • Current Federal DEA and State Controlled Substance License.
  • Current Connecticut State RN/APRN Licensure.
  • 2‑3 years of experience in a clinical setting providing direct patient care.
Nurse Practitioner (APRN) Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to discriminate between normal and abnormal findings in the history and physical exam to establish a diagnosis.
  • Ability to assess severity of patient’s illness and determine the need and timing of evaluation.
  • Ability to plan and care for patient’s identified problems including medication, diet, and therapeutic procedures.
  • Ability to consult with other health team members regarding proposed treatment guidelines.
  • Ability to form therapeutic relationships with patients.
  • Demonstrate appropriate communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, and maintain positive relationships with physicians, nurses, and other personnel.
  • Demonstrate leadership and advanced clinical decision‑making skills.
  • Demonstrate cultural sensitivity to diverse populations.
  • Commitment to continual professional development and advanced practice nursing.
  • Self‑directed, creative, and able to work independently.
