Day Kimball Health is hiring a Nurse Practitioner (APRN) to join our Outpatient Mental Health Clinic in Putnam, CT. This full‑time, exempt position offers 40 hours per week on a day shift schedule (8:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.).

As a Nurse Practitioner (APRN), you will provide comprehensive, patient-centered care within a collaborative, multidisciplinary healthcare team. Working alongside physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, behavioral health professionals, and other healthcare staff, you will deliver high-quality, evidence-based care that promotes the physical and emotional well-being of our patients. In this role, you will demonstrate clinical leadership through direct patient care, collaboration and consultation with the healthcare team, patient and family education, quality improvement initiatives, and ongoing professional development.
Key Responsibilities- Assess, manage, prescribe, and evaluate appropriate therapeutic and pharmacological interventions for common illnesses according to standards of practice. Consult or make referrals to primary care physicians, other health care professionals, or agencies when a situation is beyond the MVP’s level of expertise or requires additional services.
- Licensed after 1999 must store a Master’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Certification as a Psychiatric‑Mental Health‑NP required.
- Nationally recognized certification to practice.
- Current Federal DEA and State Controlled Substance License required.
- Current Connecticut State RN/APRN licensure.
- 2–3 years of experience in a clinical setting providing direct patient care.
- Ability to discriminate between normal and abnormal findings in the history and physical exam to establish a diagnosis.
- Ability to assess severity of patient’s illness and establish need/time for evaluation.
- Ability to plan and care for patient’s identified problems including medication, diet, therapeutic procedures, etc.
- Ability to consult with other health team members regarding proposed treatment guidelines.
- Ability to form therapeutic relationships with patients.
- Demonstrate appropriate communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, and ability to maintain positive relationships with physicians, nurses, and other hospital personnel.
- Demonstrate leadership and advanced clinical decision‑making skills.
- Demonstrate cultural sensitivity to diverse populations.
- Demonstrates responsibility for continual professional development and commitment to advanced practice nursing.
- Must be self‑directed, creative, and able to work independently.
