Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Tax Senior Accountant to join our growing team. This role is ideal for a tax professional who enjoys working directly with clients, managing complex tax engagements, and serving as a technical resource for staff.
The successful candidate will have strong experience preparing and reviewing complex individual, fiduciary, business, and estate-related tax matters. Experience with estates and trusts is required.
This position requires someone who can independently manage engagements, proactively communicate with clients and team members, identify issues before they become problems, and drive projects to completion.
Responsibilities- Prepare and review complex individual income tax returns (Form 1040)
- Prepare and review fiduciary income tax returns (Form 1041)
- Prepare estate tax returns and assist with estate administration matters
- Prepare and review partnership, S corporation, and C corporation returns
- Perform tax research and prepare written conclusions
- Assist clients with IRS and state tax notices and correspondence
- Identify tax planning opportunities and communicate recommendations to clients
- Manage multiple engagements simultaneously while meeting deadlines
- Communicate directly with clients regarding tax matters, information requests, and project status
- Train and mentor staff accountants and interns
- Review work papers and provide constructive feedback
- Collaborate with firm leadership on complex client matters
- Participate in process improvement initiatives and development of firm best practices
- Estate and trust taxation
- Fiduciary accounting concepts
- Basis calculations and property transactions
- Multi-state taxation
- High-net-worth individual taxation
- Business owner taxation
- Tax planning and consulting
- CPA, EA, or CPA candidate preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
- 4+ years of public accounting tax experience required
- Demonstrated experience preparing and reviewing complex tax returns
- Estate and trust experience required
- Strong understanding of federal income tax law
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage deadlines
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Take ownership of their client work from start to finish
- Communicate proactively rather than reactively
- Identify issues early and bring solutions forward
- Support and mentor less experienced team members
