Aboutthe Position
Bethany Church is seeking a dynamic, relational leader to serve as our Next Gen Pastor. This role provides visionary leadership for high school students and young adults, equipping them to find and follow Jesus. The position focuses on teaching, discipling, and creating impactful experiences such as gatherings, camps, and mission trips.
This leader will oversee staff responsible for junior high ministry and work closely with the kids’ ministry team to ensure alignment across next-generation ministries. They will collaborate with staff and volunteers to connect youth and young adult ministries to the broader mission of Bethany Church, fostering a thriving, multigenerational community.
The Position’s responsibilities include:The Next Gen Pastor provides leadership and vision for ministries that equip high school students and young adults to find and follow Jesus. This role focuses on discipleship, leadership development, and building an outward-focused ministry.
- Lead & Develop – Recruit, equip, and mentor volunteer leaders to create a strong, engaged ministry team.
- Teach & Preach – Effectively communicate God’s Word in high school and young adult ministries and occasionally in adult services.
- Plan & Execute – Oversee all ministry events, including weekly gatherings, camps, mission trips, and leadership training.
- Engage & Connect – Build relationships with high school students, young adults, and families, fostering a welcoming and discipleship-driven community.
- Align & Support – Ensure ministry strategies align with Bethany’s vision, mission, and values while managing resources responsibly.
The following describes many of the characteristics of the ideal candidate for the Next Gen Pastor:
Education and Experience- Bachelor’s degree required
- Seminary degree preferred or equivalent experience in youth and young adult ministry leadership
- Proven experience leading high school and young adult ministries in a large church setting.
- Strong teaching, preaching, and relational skills to engage students, young adults, and families.
- Ability to recruit, equip, and develop volunteer leaders while fostering an outward-focused ministry.
- Skilled in planning and executing ministry events, camps, and mission trips that align with the church’s vision.
- Effective teaching and preaching of God’s Word.
- Ability to build meaningful relationships.
