Position: Clinical Nursing Instructor Pool (part-time)

Applications are being accepted to create a pool of qualified applicants for possible future part‑time teaching positions within the Pierce College District. All applications remain on file for one year from the submission date.

Clinical rate is $84.39 per lab hour.

About the Program:

Pierce College is currently seeking applicants for a Part‑Time Clinical Nursing Instructor to teach as clinical and/or nursing skills lab faculty for the Pierce College District.

The successful candidate will join a nursing department that offers both the traditional and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) student an opportunity to obtain an associate of science degree in nursing. The program also offers students the opportunity to matriculate to the University of Washington's Bachelor of Science in Nursing completion program. The program is innovative and designed to attract non‑traditional students.

This position will supervise up to 10 pre‑licensure students in a long term care or hospital setting and, utilizing evidence‑based nursing practice, will support the development of the bedside nurse and foster an environment of empowerment through knowledge and achieve excellence in the delivery of patient care. Adjunct faculty may also teach in the nursing skills lab and/or facilitate simulated patient care experiences.

Travel to clinical sites will be required. The successful candidate must be able to perform physical activity which includes the ability to move or lift at least 50 lbs.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare, teach, and assess course(s) as assigned.
  • Conduct assigned classes in a manner that promotes student success and incorporates various teaching styles and technology.
  • Be available to students before and after class.
  • Adapt teaching to student learning styles.
  • Work effectively with colleagues and students of various cultural and socio‑economic backgrounds.
  • Qualifications:

    Required/Minimum:
    • Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university.
    • Active, unencumbered Washington State Registered Nurse license.
    • Minimum 3 years clinical experience as an RN within the last 5 years.
    Preferred:
    • Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university.

  • Upload a brief statement that describes your teaching philosophy/style and addresses strategies used to engage a wide diversity of students; your use of outcomes assessment measures; your use of active learning techniques; and your use of presentation and alternative modes of delivery in the classroom, or, via web‑based learning (Teaching Philosophy).
  • Provide a brief response to the following questions (Supplemental Questions):
    • What personal and professional work have you done in order to broaden your understanding of racial equity and how the intersections of multiple social and cultural identities impact your work and relationships with others?
    • How have you infused equity and inclusion into your classroom in order for students to be challenged/motivated/inspired to contribute to an equitable society?
