Pay or shift range: $22 to $26 per hour
DescriptionJob Summary: The Engineering Intern is responsible for working on various projects related to product development, product design, production system design, implementation, and improvement.
Major Responsibilities/Activities:
- Create and maintain critical documents such as drawings, lab quality manual, engineering action requests, testing records, training records, action orders, artifact records, calibration reports, and scheduling.
- Evaluate products and implement changes: under the direction of the engineering department manager or designated supervisor, conduct testing, produce evaluation reports, update engineering documents, modify bills of material, and issue engineering change notices. Coordinate with vendors and suppliers and track all issues in the engineering action log.
- Evaluate processes and implement improvements: under the direction of the engineering department manager or supervisor, conduct time‑efficiency studies, cost analysis, process changes, and, when necessary, specify additional equipment. Determine equipment specifications and authorise their use.
- Handle additional engineering assignments: undertake projects that may require any number of company resources and skills beyond the normal scope of the position.
- Education:
obtaining or actively working toward an associate’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial/Manufacturing Technology, or a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent). - Software proficiency: demonstrate experience with MS Word, MS Outlook, MS Excel, and possibly Ignite, CREO and/or AutoCAD.
- 3‑D modeling: experience with Solid Works, Solid Edge, or CREO (preferred).
- Ability to work on several projects simultaneously.
- Flexibility: work flexible hours when required to complete necessary job duties.
- Adherence to established procedures and approved quality standards.
- Commitment to a safe work environment.
- Follow an established routine and actively participate in a team environment.
- Highly organized, self‑motivated, able to work independently without continuous supervision.
- Detail oriented in creation or review of published documents.
- Take special precautions to ensure safety.
- Open and honest communication with staff members and the engineering manager.
- Work approximately 50‑60% of the day on the production floor; must be able to maneuver safely in production areas.
- Walk on level surfaces for extended periods.
- Reach above shoulder height, below waist, and lift as required to file documents or store materials.
The intern may be required to use precision measuring devices and computer‑based software packages.
Additional CommentsFluency in English is required. Candidates with proficiency in Spanish or German may receive additional consideration.
