Summary
SAILS Washington employs appropriate individuals who ensure a high standard of quality and safety in the delivery of Residential Services and who coordinate the provision of services consistent with SAILS Washington’s philosophy of care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Site Supervisor, the Direct Support Professional:

• Provides support to program participants that meets their needs, provides opportunities for community integration, including swimming, and creates a nurturing, safe, and healthful living environment.

• Must be familiar with the Residential Service Guidelines issued by the Developmental Disabilities Administration.

• Provides each participant with an array of instruction and support services, as described in the participants’ Individual Instruction and Support Plan (IISP).

• Provides support and or supervision as outlined in the clients Quarterly Treatment Plan and Positive Behavior Support Plan.

• Be aware of CP Clients location at all times and ensure CP Clients do not leave the program without properly trained staff or valid Chaperone Agreement unless exercising an approved Reduction in Supervision plan.

• Documents all unusual or unsafe behavior, refusal/failure to follow treatment guidelines, or refusal to attend therapy in an Incident Report and notify supervisors per policy.

• Act as a positive role model and maintain professional boundaries at all times.

• Call 911 and notify program supervisors immediately if a CP Client leaves supervision.

• Stay awake at all times and make visual checks on each resident every half-hour when they are not within line-of-sight supervision in the home.

• Keep CP Clients in their line-of-sight at all times in the home unless they are alone in their bedroom or bathroom.

• Never leave two CP Clients alone without line-of-sight supervision.

• Ensure CP Clients are not entering another client’s bedroom at any time. If a CP Client is another client's bedroom, provide physical supervision until they leave and complete an Incident Report.

• Check any alarm equipment in use to track movement on every shift. Notify a supervisor immediately of any faulty equipment and complete an Incident Report.

• Review and sign Positive Behavior Support Plan monthly.

• Follow all recommendations made by Therapists and approved by Program Directors/Managers.
