Sound Family Medicine, a private family practice in Puyallup, is looking for a Medical Assistant/Lab Technician. This is a great opportunity for an experienced Medical Assistant or Lab Technician looking for growth in the healthcare field.
We are looking for enthusiastic, customer-focused, self-motivated and organized individuals to join our team. The ideal candidate is a fast learner, tech savvy, has good phone etiquette and is very dependable. Must have excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills as well as be a Certified Medical Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant Phlebotomist in the state of Washington (MA-C, MA-P).
Schedule.75 FTE, 30 hrs/week
Position SummaryThe MA-C/MA-P Lab Assistant is responsible for utilizing machines and analyzing lab results. This person will also assist our lab staff with phlebotomy, various testing, and patient procedures in a friendly and professional manner. Flexibility with schedule is a must.
The duties assigned include, but are not limited to:- Greet patients in a friendly & professional manner
- Perform laboratory testing
- Calibration and utilization of machines
- Analyze test results
- Obtain and record vital signs, height and weight, blood pressure, respiration, visual acuity, known allergies, symptoms screening, allergy injections, growth/OB records etc.
- Record medications
- Perform and record immunizations
- Draw blood and perform screening tests
- Provide patient education as needed
- Clean, disinfect, and maintain organization of all work areas
- Manage and coordinate phone calls, pharmacy refills, insurance/L&I forms, entering of orders and requests for other medical information in a thorough and timely manner
- Prepare and assist with procedures
- Additional duties as assigned
- High School Diploma or equivalent:
Required - State of Washington Medical Assistant Certification or Medical Assistant Phlebotomist Certification (MA-C, MA-P) OR Lab Technician experience with instrumentation and resulting experience:
Required - CPR and/or BLS Certification: required
- Documentation of Hep A antibody screening.
- Documentation of Hep B vaccination or proof of immunity (titer).
- Documentation of negative TB test
.- PPD skin test or Quanti
FERON test completed within the last calendar year

- PPD skin test or Quanti
- Documentation of MMR or immunity status.
- Documentation of Varicella vaccine or immunity status.
- Documentation of TDaP vaccine within the last 10 years
