Puyallup School District is seeking qualified applicants with skills, abilities, and willingness to provide support to our district's deaf and hard of hearing program and to provide coverage for absent ASL Interpreter Tutors throughout the school district.
Position Hours/Days:
At-Will/On-call, based on the 2026-27 SY Calendar
Position Rate of Pay: $42.34/hr
Essential Functions:
Required Qualifications:
* MUST be fluent in ASL
* Ability and desire to work on a constant basis minimum requirement 4 times a month
* Completion of an Interpreter Training program Preferred
* Bachelor's Degree Preferred
Note:
Candidates who meet the Washington State Educational Interpreter Requirements, may also be eligible for temporary positions and permanent positions. Candidates who have the following will be requested to upload ONE of the following documentations to their application.
* Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) with a minimum score of 4.0, and the EIPA written test with a passing score; or
* National Interpreter Certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID), and the EIPA written test with a passing score.
Required Testing:
* Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) and the EIPA written test
Clearances:
* Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance
Other Information:
* This position is screened by the Substitute Services Office ~ Sub Services and hired by the Special Services Department
* Selected Candidates will be contacted by Human Resources and will be required to complete the Substitute Onboarding Process, which includes
* Onboarding Paperwork
* Substitute Online Orientation
* Substitute Onboarding Appointment (Includes scanning of fingerprints)
