Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Groundskeeper, Building Maintenance
We are seeking a reliable and skilled male staff person to oversee the general maintenance, repair, and upkeep of our homes and property. This role supports the mission of New Beginnings Homes (a YWAM ministry) by helping maintain a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for the moms and children we serve. The ideal candidate is someone who takes initiative and sees practical work as an act of worship and service to the Lord.

New Beginnings Homes YWAM is a ministry that provides safe and affordable housing to single mothers. Currently, the ministry includes 8 homes on 7 acres in the heart of Puyallup, WA. As you can imagine, this property requires regular upkeep and care to stay safe, welcoming, and functional for the families who live here.
We are looking for a dependable man of faith who is either skilled in general maintenance or willing to learn. This person would take the lead in caring for the grounds and handling day-to-day repairs and improvements around the property. This is a hands-on role that supports the ministry in a vital way—helping create and maintain a space where moms and their children can thrive.
Responsibilities- Attend weekly staff meetings.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks across the property including basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting.
- Appliance repairs and furniture assembly.
- Maintain landscaping and grounds: mowing, weeding, trimming, and general outdoor upkeep.
- Respond to maintenance requests in a timely manner.
- Inspect property to identify needed repairs or safety concerns.
- Coordinate with licensed professionals or contractors when specialized work or permits are needed.
- Coordinate occasional work party groups.
- Help with occasional facility setup for events or gatherings.
- Ensure tools and supplies are organized and stored properly.
Ministry Directors are available at any time to discuss concerns, provide encouragement or support, and give advice if needed.
Skills and Qualifications- Personal knowledge of Jesus Christ as his/her Lord and Savior and exhibits Christian Character.
- YWAM DTS graduate or familiarity with YWAM culture (preferred).
- Preferred experience in maintenance and groundskeeping.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs., climb ladders, and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Agreement with the values and mission of NBH.
- Have a neutral stance on adoption vs. single parenting.
- Have a valid Driver's License.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Healed from any previous drug or alcohol abuse.
At least one year to start out. With hopeful extensions in 6+ month increments. You could instead commit at an intern level which would be a minimum 6 month commitment.
Full-time position with a flexible schedule averaging five 8-hour days per week.
This is a volunteer position. All missionaries who have been through a DTS with Youth With A Mission (and commit at least one year to the ministry) have the opportunity to raise their support through NBH.
NBH is able to provide a private residence. Living expenses are free for all staff - we have no staff fees.
A vehicle to be used for ministry purposes is provided.
