Position: Special Projects Mechanic B- 98206

Job Overview

Special Projects Mechanic – Boeing Commercial Airplanes, Puyallup, Washington. 100% onsite. Work with the Join and Installation team on cutting‑edge aerospace projects.

Responsibilities
  • Distribute and assign tasks to the assembly team based on production requirements using bar charts, flow charts, and Work Orders (W/O).
  • Maintain and update personal and tool certifications to ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Initiate and document planning, engineering, or tooling changes using appropriate forms and online systems.
  • Verify the accuracy of pre‑picked detail parts, drawings, and assemblies against Work Orders, Installation Plans (IP), and Bills of Material (BOM).
  • Perform layout work and create shop aids to facilitate the fitting of parts into airframes and special projects.
  • Use Precision Measuring Equipment (PME) and laser trackers to locate and align parts on assembly tools according to specifications.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to address design‑related issues or modifications during the assembly process.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives by suggesting enhancements to workflows or tools based on hands‑on experience.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years experience with coordinate measurement machines (CMM), laser trackers, optical measurement devices, or CAMS.
  • 1+ year experience with handheld power tools.
  • Experience performing aircraft structural and mechanical work.
  • Experience handling chemicals and/or hazardous materials.
  • Preferred:
    Aerospace, automotive, or similar industry experience.
  • High school graduate or GED (preferred).

  • Hourly pay $26.32–$51.71 under the IAM‑751 Collective Bargaining Agreement.
