Ameri Corps Outreach and Education Coordinator
Pierce Conservation District is seeking an Outreach and Education Coordinator to help support one of the most diverse and rapidly growing networks of volunteers in the Puget Sound region and bolster the outreach efforts of District. This position will help the District continue to reach new audiences through outreach content development, assisting with educational workshops, developing and delivering lessons and field trip programs, conducting outreach at community events, and assisting with special projects such as Salmon in the Schools and Envirothon.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for engaging people in conservation efforts, care about equitably delivering services to broad audiences, and have a desire to learn and practice the skills needed to pursue a successful career in communications.

Water Quality Improvement, Farm Assistance, Habitat Restoration, Urban Agriculture, and Environmental Education. The District works for clean water, healthy soil, salmon recovery, and local food access for all. - Assist and coordinate school visits and field trips with the Environmental Education team at PCD.
- Provide educational components and collect stories, photos, and videos from habitat restoration work parties.
- Assist with planning and execution of major community events.
- Assist the Salmon in the Schools program.
- Represent the District at general outreach events.
- Contribute to general District outreach materials such as website blog, outreach mailers, and social media posting.
- Assist the Communications Team with video projects as needed and publish workshop recordings on the website.
- Provide assistance at smaller-scale virtual and in-person events and workshops, such as school field trips and farm tours.
- Assist with other projects according to need or interest.
- Research and attend trainings to further personal professional development.
- Participate in PCD’s Ameri Corps Leadership Development seminar program.
- Attend meetings as a representation of the District and network with the environmental community.
- Other tasks assigned based on Member’s interest.
- Knowledge of the Pierce County area and the communities within.
- Experience with graphic design, social media, and/or video editing.
- Being a natural conversationalist who likes talking to people.
- Experience conducting outreach to diverse communities.
- A good eye for design and/or ability to write engagingly for the public.
- Experience with Cultural Competency in education.
Office and outdoor environment, occasional travel to a variety of locations to conduct work and may be exposed to typical hazards encountered at such work sites. This is a full‑time position consisting of 40 hours/week. The position will require some work on Saturdays or after regularly scheduled work hours.
Licenses, Certificates & Other RequirementsValid Washington State driver’s license at the time of appointment with maintenance thereafter or evidence of equivalent mobility.
Compensation & Benefits- Monthly stipend of $2,438 before deductions and with holdings
- Education award upon completion of service that can be used for future schooling or to pay off existing qualified student loan debt (upon successful completion of the service term, subject to federal tax)
