Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position specializing in both circulating and scrub roles at a Level III trauma center, requiring a current WA or compact RN license and strong L&D skills.
Responsibilities- Work in a hospital Birth Center and Level II Perinatal Center with 9 LDR, 2 OB OR, 2 OB PACU, and 11-bed Level II NICU
- Patient population includes laboring mothers (32 weeks gestation and above), antepartum, postpartum, and newborns
- Patient ratios follow AWHONN and NANN guidelines: 1:1 for active labor, 1:2 for non-active labor
- Manage cases involving hypertension, magnesium, substance abuse medication management, and fetal monitoring
- Perform scrub and circulating roles as part of deliveries, including C-sections and triage
- Use Epic Stork and GE Centricity EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing
- Scheduled for 12-hour night shifts ) with every other weekend rotation
- Holiday requirement includes one major and one minor holiday coverage
- Float only to units where competency is established and between L&D and Mother/Baby as needed
- No on-call responsibilities
- Perform labor management, delivery assistance, postpartum patient care, and support newborn transition
- Participate in annual core competencies and unit-specific orientation prior to starting
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team including hospitalists, OB group, midwives, and family practice providers
- HUGS Security system is used on the unit for patient safety
- No CNAs on the unit; phlebotomy and RT support available 24/7
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Scrubs are provided and parking is free
- Request for time off (RTO) must be approved by the manager
- Active WA or Compact RN license required
- Minimum of 1 year recent experience in Labor & Delivery required
- Current BLS and NRP certifications required
- Fetal monitoring certification (AWHONN or Relia's module) required
- Experience with scrub and circulating duties in L&D required
- Proficiency in cervical exams, antepartum care, labor, amnio infusion, epidurals, fetal monitoring, IV insertion, and Pitocin administration
- Experience with couplet care and post-partum care beyond transition needed
- Epic Stork and Pyxis experience required
