Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level III Trauma Center, requiring at least 2 years of ED experience and recent Epic charting experience.

Details
  • Level III Trauma Center with 375 licensed beds; ED has 46 beds including 5 safe psych rooms and a 5-bed fast track area
  • Averages 200 patients per day
  • Patient population spans peds to geriatrics including trauma, GSW, sepsis, COVID, STEMI, stroke, DKA, mental health, respiratory issues, and high acuity medical cases
  • High geriatric population, primarily falls and STEMI
  • No invasive neuro procedures such as craniotomies performed
  • Small pediatric volume, generally transferred to Mary Bridge
  • Day shift ratio of 1:4-5, with flexibility to 5 based on acuity and staffing
  • 12-hour Mids/Nights shifts, 36 hours per week
  • Shift start times vary:
    Days/Mids at 0700 or 1100, Mids/Nights at 1500 or 1900
  • Likely to work consistent shift for a week at a time, subject to change
  • Weekend requirements vary based on unit needs
  • Schedule provided three weeks at a time, released about 10 days prior
  • No floating required
  • No on-call requirements
  • Central and bedside telemetry monitoring at nursing station; no dedicated tele tech
Requirements
  • Active WA or compact RN license required
  • Minimum 2 years of ED experience required
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS, CPI/MOAB
  • Recent Epic EMR experience required
  • Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation, IV insertion, and ED drips/med administration
  • Experience with procedural sedation, blood administration, and cardiac medications
  • TNK administration experience preferred
  • Must pass Traveler Telemetry Competency exam prior to start

  • Unit supported by ER techs, resource/float nurse, 24/7 RT, ED educator, 24/7 house supervisor, 24/7 social work services, and 24/7 pharmacy support
  • Increased security assigned to the ED 24/7 for safety
  • Charge nurse rarely takes a patient assignment
  • Two-day orientation including NEO, educator meeting, and a 12-hour precepted shift
  • Holiday coverage required for 2 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
  • Scrubs may be any professional color
  • Modest piercings (studs only) permitted; tattoos must not be offensive
  • Free parking available in designated areas
  • Fast-paced, team-oriented culture that is traveler friendly, with many travelers extending their contracts
  • First-time travelers will be considered for this position
