American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level III Trauma Center, requiring 2 years of ED experience and recent Epic experience.
Details- Level III Trauma Center with 375 licensed beds, 46 ED beds including 5 safe psych rooms and a 5-bed fast track
- Average of 200 patients per day
- Patient population spans pediatrics to geriatrics including trauma, GSW, sepsis, COVID, STEMI, stroke, DKA, mental health, adult psych, and high acuity medical cases
- High geriatric population including falls and STEMI cases
- No invasive neuro procedures such as craniotomies performed
- Small pediatric volume, generally transferred to Mary Bridge
- Day shift ratio of 1:4-5, flexing to 5 based on acuity and staffing
- 12-hour Days/Mids and Mids/Nights shifts available (0700, 1100, 1500, 1900 start times)
- Likely scheduled a week at a time on a given shift, subject to change
- Weekend requirements vary based on unit needs
- Schedule provided 3 weeks at a time, released about 10 days prior
- No on-call requirements
- No floating required
- Central and bedside telemetry monitoring at the nursing station with no tele tech support
- Charting via Epic, with Alaris and Pyxis equipment used
- Active WA or compact RN license required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS, CPI/MOAB
- Minimum 2 years of ED experience required
- Recent Epic EMR experience required
- General ED skills required including cardiac rhythm interpretation, IV skills, and medication/drip administration knowledge
- Experience with procedural sedation, blood administration, and cardiac medications required
- TNK administration experience preferred
- Must complete and pass Traveler Telemetry Competency exam prior to start
- Strong unit support including ER tech, resource/float nurse, 24/7 RT, ED educator, 24/7 house supervisor, 24/7 social work services, and 24/7 pharmacy support
- Charge nurse rarely takes a patient assignment
- Increased security presence assigned to the ED 24/7 for safety
- Orientation includes NEO on day one with badge and Epic training if needed, time in mental health area and front-facing area, followed by a 12-hour shift with a preceptor on day two
- Holiday coverage required for 2 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- Scrubs may be any professional color
- Modest piercings (studs only) permitted and tattoos must not be offensive
