Day in the LifeAs an Inventory Specialist, you'll play a critical support role for our mechanics and shop operations. Partner closely with Accounting, Fleet Maintenance, and Vendors to pull, analyze, and interpret inventory and usage reports; help develop, implement, and enforce parts processes including stocking strategy, min/max levels, and data-driven purchasing decisions. Ideal for a detail-oriented, data-driven professional who enjoys working with numbers, systems, and continuous process improvement, not just transactional work.
Key Responsibilities- Receive, stock, and organize parts, materials, and shop supplies
- Communicate clearly and professionally with vendors
- Maintain accurate inventory counts using inventory management systems
- Issue parts and materials to mechanics and document usage
- Coordinate cores, credits, parts ordering, returns, and warranty tracking
- Keep the parts room, storage areas, and shop spaces clean and organized
- Assist mechanics by locating parts, kits, and tools efficiently
- Monitor inventory levels and proactively identify restocking needs
- Follow all NWC safety policies and applicable regulations
- Perform additional shop or inventory-related duties as assigned
- The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced shop environment. Experience supporting maintenance or fleet operations is a plus, but we're willing to train the right candidate.
- Prior inventory, warehouse, parts, or shop support experience preferred
- Mechanical aptitude or familiarity with automotive or diesel parts is a plus
- Experience with Business Central or equivalent accounting software (inventory systems, email, data entry)
- Ability to lift, carry, and move parts and supplies (up to 50 lbs)
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Reliable attendance and ability to work swing shift hours
