Position: Industrial Maintenance Electrician-C2009 at BOEING Puyallup, WA

Industrial Maintenance Electrician

Location:

Puyallup and other Washington sites including Seattle, Sea Tac, Renton, Tukwila, Kent, Auburn.

As an Industrial Maintenance Electrician, you will be a vital part of our manufacturing team installing, maintaining electrical equipment. You will perform functional testing of building and plant equipment, uphold safety and quality standards, and ensure operations meet regulatory compliance.

Position Responsibilities
  • Operate, install electrical systems and perform functional testing of building and plant equipment (machines, motor controls, room remodels).
  • Determine if systems should be shut down or work must be performed with power source on.
  • Lock out, tag out, try out equipment and related systems.
  • Perform primary and secondary testing on electrical breakers during routine maintenance; replace, update and retrofit breakers.
  • Perform routine tests on high‑voltage switches and relays using hi‑potential (Hipot) test equipment; replace switch or relay.
  • Troubleshoot electric motors using appropriate test equipment.
  • Monitor current, voltage, amperage, frequency and watt‑hours at substations using an online computing system.
  • Check and service electrical systems, using infrared analysis sheets to locate hot spots in service panels.
  • Service and maintain electrical systems on various types of overhead cranes.
  • Install and perform routine maintenance on all types of lighting fixtures (fluorescent, halide, standard); clean and check sockets, and replace ballast and bulbs.
  • Run high‑voltage electrical cable from sub‑station to unit station; cut and splice cable, test cable for resistance.
  • Install, replace and repair fiber optic cable for computers and computing systems.
  • Bend conduit and install junction boxes; pull wires of various gauge and color through conduit using a fish tape; install and connect switches and outlets.
  • Check work after completion; ensure job follows drawings and WAC, NEC codes; evaluate job for wire size, electrical load, conduit.
  • Operate mechanical lifts of various types (tiger lift, spider lift, snorkel lift) to access work areas.
  • Install wire, crimp, terminate and solder using tools (crimpers, wire cutters, soldering gun) in plant electrical systems.
  • Establish and verify voltage, amperage, frequency, and wattage using test equipment (circuit trackers, sonic circuit chasers, volt‑amperage meters).
Physical Demands
  • Lifting weights ranging from 10–15 lbs to 15–35 lbs.
Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience as an Electrician or Apprentice.
  • 1+ year of experience maintaining industrial equipment.
  • Experience working from heights and using fall protection equipment with weight limitations.
  • Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 35 lbs frequently within an 8‑hour shift.
  • Must complete fall protection training.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Electrician license (EL01 &/or EL07) or an electrical card.
  • Crane related experience.
  • Experience with prime power.
Education

High school graduate or GED preferred.

Benefits & Compensation

Pay range: $33.00–$55.65 per hour.

This position is governed by the International Association of Machinists (IAM‑751) Collective Bargaining Agreement.
