As Business Finance Specialist - Commercial (Marketplace), you'll be the finance co pilot to the Marketplace GM, partnering mainly with Commercial, but also across Finance, Strategy, Product, and Marketing to drive how we win with restaurant partners and users. You'll challenge commission rates, model partnerships, expose margin traps, and tell the P&L story to leadership before they ask.
What you'll get your hands on- Sit next to the Marketplace GM as their finance co pilot in weekly commercial steering meetings, strategy debates, and call making rooms.
- Own the Marketplace P&L end to end and the story behind it: GMV, category margins, contribution margin, all the way to the bottom line.
- Partner with Category Managers to shape category strategy, assortment calls, supplier negotiations, and joint plans that move the business.
- Push back on commercial assumptions when the numbers say something different, and bring the analysis to back it up.
- Turn messy P&L dynamics into one page narratives that GMs and leadership can act on.
- Lead the financial case for new bets - category launches, new partners, supplier deals, exclusivities, and growth plays - with sharp ROI, payback, and risk framing.
- Co own promo strategy with Commercial: model discount impact, basket math, category margin, and supplier funded vs. own funded mix.
- Spot risks and opportunities in the Marketplace P&L before they show up in the actuals, and bring the fix.
- Build and own the BI, dashboards, and data plumbing that bring the commercial P&L to life - turning messy data into scorecards and self serve insights that the GM and leadership team use to run the business.
- Strong FP&A, commercial finance, or business partnering foundation - a track record of being the finance person commercial leaders actually want in the room.
- Sharp grip on revenue models, unit economics, take rate, category margins, and supplier economics - you know which lever moves what.
- Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills and comfort with large, messy datasets.
- Ability to tell a story with numbers and hold the room at GM and leadership level.
- Opinionated but constructive - willing to push back when numbers tell a different story than the narrative.
- Built to operate in fast, ambiguous, high growth environments where structure is built as you go.
- 7+ years in FP&A, commercial finance, or business finance - ideally in q commerce, grocery/retail, marketplaces, e commerce, or other tech enabled consumer businesses - partnering directly with Commercial or Category Management leaders.
- Knowledge of category and supplier economics, pricing, promo mechanics, and supplier funded structures sufficient to understand where margin is made and where it leaks.
- Hands on experience with enterprise planning tools (TM1 / IBM Planning Analytics or similar) and BI tools (Power BI, Tableau); CMA, CPA, ACCA, or CFA credentials are a plus.
