The Director of Fitness (DOF) is the main salesperson for Personal Training programming. There are many times the applicants are people who want to teach trainers how to work out and exercise while this position isn't that role here.
The DOF is New Member On-Boarding Specialist:
You would be working directly with General Manager on tour practice and performing F1s. Meet with each new member and sell personal training programming through our customized software.
Key Responsibilities
* Work daily on filling the schedule for training sessions
* Match the trainer's availability and book sessions
* Render daily completed training sessions
* Submit weekly trainers' payroll
* Oversee and track bad debt and payment cancellations
A Focus on key operational functions that create a strong and sustainable PT presence in the club to include:
Talent acquisition by calling personal trainer applicants to pre-screen for interviews
• Promoting personal trainer bios collecting for the company website.
• Staff participation in Personal Training
• Dress code ordering uniforms of trainers collect payments/order forms.
Collect Trainer monthly reviews on conduct and file on write-ups
• Collect Monthly employee performance reviews
• every day - New Member Calls and Emails Use club PT Email.
• Email and Call members who did not book appointments.
Everyday - New Member Calls, Texts using the club simple-texting platform, and Emails Using club PT Email.
• Follow-up with members who did not book consultation appointments.
• Make sure all client weekly training appointments are confirmed with trainers
• Setting time aside each week to interview new trainers along with the general manager.
The Director of Fitness must have good communication skills, people skills, a ton of confidence, and NOT be afraid to ask for a SALE!
Overview of Primary Responsibilities
The general scope of your responsibilities is as follows however are subject to be modified for the success of the department and club.
Sales:
The Director of Fitness works directly with General Manager on front desk staff training to achieve a 70% appointment set rate each month of qualified member PT prospects. Making sure club managers are driving existing member traffic through personal training sales at a rate of 2% each month along with promotions and in-club events.
Human Resources:
Interviewing, hiring, training, and terminating as it relates to Personal Trainers. Some of this will probably be done in conjunction with the club GM, however, the direct supervision of the PTs the direct responsibility of the DOF.
Team Performance:
The DOF is responsible for ensuring that all PT Department team members are adhering to PT protocol, correcting and coaching when necessary. In addition to providing ongoing motivation and encouragement, the DOF must monitor closing percentages and sales to ensure that the department is on track to achieving or surpassing its goals and substitute PTs as needed.
Scheduling:
The Director of Fitness is responsible for ensuring that all PT Departments are scheduled sufficiently to meet demand. At times the DOF may be required to deviate from their regular schedule in order to accommodate any unexpected situation. Typically, successful PT programs are constantly adding team members as the program grows which means scheduling is typically fluid.
Administrative:
The Person al Training Program is a multi-layered program that requires continuous and ongoing monitoring. The DOF will be responsible for learning all aspects of the reporting as they pertain to the Personal Trainers. General Gym Membership drives the entire process therefore communication between the DOF and GM is essential for success. The DOF will learn the reporting from the GM and will have unlimited support in all areas of operation.
