Educational Aide; Special Education

Responsibilities

• Monitor students during various phases of the school day.
• Provide assistance in toileting, feeding, eating, and personal hygiene.
• Support educational efforts in the Special Education classroom and the general education classroom as needed.
• Perform administrative tasks such as taking attendance, filing, scheduling, and reviewing assignments.
• Work with students in accordance with plans developed by the specialist and educator.
• Participate in Parent‑Teacher conferences.
• Prepare instructional materials related to classroom lessons.

• Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre‑Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Requirement.
• Proof of U.S. Citizenship required.
• Direct deposit of pay required.
• Appointment subject to a suitability/fitness determination, as determined by a background investigation.
• This position requires a Tier 1 (T1) investigation with Childcare Checks because duties involve interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years.
• A two‑year trial period may be required.

• Experience
  : A minimum of one year of increasingly responsible clerical, office, or related work that demonstrates the knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of an Educational Aide.
• Education substitution
  : 2 years (60 semester hours) of education beyond high school may substitute for the required experience. A combination of education and experience may also qualify if the combined percentage requirement is met.
• Evaluation of foreign degrees
  :
  Foreign degrees and coursework from non‑accredited institutions must be evaluated and translated as required by a recognized evaluation service or accredited institution; see agency guidelines for specific procedures.
• Competency will be evaluated in the following areas:
  Communications and Media, Special Education Support, Standards, and Teaching Others.

• Permanent Educational Aides working over 32 hours per week may be required to have their pay spread per their local bargaining unit.
• Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement.
• Multiple positions may be filled from this announcement.
• This position is not covered by a bargaining unit.
