Software Test Engineer
Join Life Cycle Engineering in support of the NCIS IT support services mission headquartered in Quantico, Virginia. The Information Technology Directorate (ITD) supports the NCIS core mission areas to investigate and defeat criminal, terrorist, and foreign intelligence threats by planning for and providing services through appropriate use of the people, equipment, technology, and infrastructure resources of the United States (U.S.) Navy and Marine Corps.
This position is expected to start in Q3 of 2026.
Position SummaryThe Software Test Engineer identifies, tracks, and seeks resolution to software application defects for NCIS.
Clearance Requirements- Must have an active DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance
- Tests new software; tests and retests defects and bug fixes; troubleshoots application problems; provides application support; and deploys new application to end users.
- Responsible for working with business and technical staff in planning, executing, and documenting tests.
- Follows and enhances developed testing processes, procedures, or methodologies. Minimizes risks by identifying, communicating and escalating issues appropriately to management.
- Works with the Business Systems Analyst and Requirements Analyst to define test requirements and write test scripts.
- Minimum of five (5) years of QA testing experience using a mix of automated and manual testing
- Knowledge of one or more testing frameworks
- Experience with Bugzilla, CVS, Apache Subversion, and Load Runner
- Familiar with bug tracking tools
- Regular physical activity including walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting (up to 30 pounds), and standing; occasional prolonged sitting
- Ability to speak, read, hear and write, with or without assistance
- Ability to use phone and computer systems, copier, fax and other office equipment
