Dental, Surgical Instruments Processor

Help process and assemble dental, surgical instruments, including complex loaner sets. Inspect instruments for cleanliness, damage, rust, pitting, cracks, or imperfections. Test equipment for proper function and lubricate power tools per manufacturer guidelines. Perform leak tests on flexible scopes and ensure laparoscopic equipment meets standards. Tag defective items and send malfunctioning equipment to maintenance. Select correct sterilization methods and cycles for various items.

Load sterilizers properly, including biological quality control tests. Operate, clean, and monitor sterilizers; report any malfunctions. Initiate recall procedures for compromised loads (e.g., wet loads, positive spore tests). Maintain sterilization records, apply load stickers, and update computer tracking systems. Maintain climate control and document conditions per SOP. Inventory trays and verify package integrity. Restock clinic bins and distribute instruments to wards and OR suites.

Maintain sterile supply cabinet stock and remove compromised items for reprocessing. Scan and receive used instruments for decontamination. Determine correct cleaning and disinfection methods per manufacturer IFU. Process and document flexible endoscopes requiring high level disinfection. Perform daily QA tests on all cleaning and sterilization equipment. Interpret results, take corrective action, and log data in the system.
