The Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) is an organization of approximately 2,000 personnel, with 700 at HQ and the remainder worldwide. NCIS is the DON component responsible for criminal investigation, law enforcement, counter-terrorism, counterintelligence, and cyber matters, and has exclusive investigative jurisdiction in non-combat matters involving criminal activity, terrorism, sabotage, espionage, and subversive activities.

As a SQL Database Administrator
, your work at GDIT will support the NCIS ITD organization in Quantico, VA.
Manage all current and planned SQL Server databases that support our customer’s COTS applications. Work as part of a team of systems administrators managing Windows Server , desktops, and printers.
Operate and maintain databases. Design, plan, and implement new databases as needed, including database creation, security, access, backup and recovery, and documentation.
Apply STIGs to SQL Server databases and understand the impact on related applications.
Maintain excellent documentation and create related standards, operating procedures, and security documentation.
Monitor, maintain, troubleshoot, and tune databases.
Administer and manage Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft SQL Reporting Services.
Be familiar with SQL Always On setup and management and Microsoft Failover Clustering.
Perform day-to-day monitoring and maintenance of SQL Server databases.
Monitor and troubleshoot database and system performance.
Develop, document, and apply procedures for database backup and recovery.
Perform scheduled and unscheduled database backups and recovery with Microsoft SQL Server SSMS or SQL CMD.
Participate in the analysis of database solutions. Responsible for the definition, design, creation, and implementation of a database environment with respect to access methods, access time, batch processes, device allocation, validation checks, organization, protection and security.
Evaluate and install new software releases, patches, and system upgrades.
Identify and troubleshoot system issues.
Develop, document, and apply procedures for systems backup and recovery.
May program in an administrative language (Power Shell, VBS, etc.).
Perform ACAS and SCAP scans and remediation.
Assist Tier 2 help desk with issues elevated to systems administrators.
Create and update user accounts; manage accounts in Active Directory.
Support the Certification and Accreditation process — run scans; resolve findings; document solutions, workarounds or justifications for exceptions.
Document, implement, and maintain database security policies in accordance with DISA STIG requirements.
Define and oversee database standards, controls, procedures, and documentation.
Create documentation required for Release Management Framework (RMF).
Complete planning and documentation prior to new integration or implementation.
SSIS and Power BI Reporting Server Administration.
Other SQL DBA duties as assigned.

Security Clearance Level: Active Top Secret clearance required; must be able to obtain a TS/SCI clearance once hired.
Required Experience: 5+ years of work experience administering MS SQL Server databases (SQL 2012 or newer).
Encryption: Experience with Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) and SSL encryption in SQL Server.
SQL Server Administration: Experience administering SQL Server .
Required
Certifications:
Security+ CE.Education: BS degree; additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
Location: Onsite at Quantico, VA.
US Citizenship: required.
